While April 4th may have just been another Wednesday for many people, but April 4 couldn’t come quickly enough for some of us. It marked the start of a new season of joy, the 2012 baseball season. Most teams began the first of 162 games. Whether you’ve been an avid baseball-fan for years, or you’re just learning about the sport; baseball season brings reason for celebration, as we cast off our winter jackets and prepare for fun under the sun.

Different From Other Popular Sports

While football often takes the forefront of being the most popular American sport; baseball is still known for being America’s past time – and for good reason. Baseball is truly a spectator’s sport; as there’s always time to keep your eyes on the game while talking with friends and hailing food and beverage vendors. Baseball is also unlike any other sport, because the game is typically played to the last inning; unlike football and basketball, in which players are able to run out the clock by stalling. From beginning to end, baseball is exciting, nerve-wracking and always a good conversation starter.

Exciting and Emotional

While baseball is all about competition, it also provides emotional memories to those who have grown up enjoying its mystique. For many, baseball season means fun times at the stadium, tailgating and possibly even meeting some of the league’s most prized players. According to Dr. Ken Siegel, a cosmetic dentist in Pennsylvania, he holds a special memory of the time he got to visit the New York Mets dugout during the team’s championship run of 1969.

“My cousin was able to get me access to the dugout and I got to meet all of the players.” Dr. Siegel said.

According to Dr. Siegel, the memory remains special to him even to this day; and he still remembers which players treated him well and which ones did not.

Carrying on the Tradition

Like Dr. Siegel, countless Americans have stories of how baseball impacted their youth. These days, many parents take their kids to baseball games to create new memories and rekindle special moments that happened decades ago.

Although every fan hopes his or her team makes it to the World Series; most appreciate the sport for how it helps generations bond and relate. As April 4 approaches, generations of Americans prepare for fresh experiences that will undoubtedly cultivate new, priceless memories; which can help older and younger fans meet the divide that seems to come with age.

So, as you can see, the state of New York loves the sport of baseball and both of their professional teams of the Yankees and the Mets.

If you are a big fan who doesn’t reside in New York State, you should make plans to go to the Hall of Fame in Cooperstown. Many groups of friends or even baseball teams make a field trip to go there on a vacation . It is also a Wonderful spot for families. For the big fans, a fun and exciting time to go is in July when they perform the induction ceremony of the new players entering the hall of fame. They have a ceremony at the Clark Sport Center near the museum and several special events related to the induction at the museum. At the museum, they also have a huge store full of everything related to baseball that you could ever think of .

Another fun thing for baseball fans to do is to attend a fantasy baseball league camp. This is for the person that is a loyal fan of a specific team and enjoys playing fantasy baseball on their own . This camp is usually attended by the adult male aged 25-50 that wants to chance to meet their favorite professional players and some of the coaches and actually be able to throw a ball and play a bit of baseball with them. They also receive baseball playing suggestions such as they would at a typical sports camp. This can be said to be a thrill of a lifetime for these supporters of baseball getting to not only step foot on a major baseball field but to be playing with the major league baseball players too .

Whether you are a former professional baseball player or simply a child playing in their first year of little league, baseball is something that brings many generations of people together. going to a place like Cooperstown gives all of the things you could ever wish to see about the love of baseball that so many people hold close to their hearts. Fantasy camps also provide the fans a great experience to play with the pros .
